There are also 3 allied factions that you can unlock- Reapers who are excellent scouts and okay snipers, templars who are psionic melee monsters once they level up some, and skirmishers who are highly mobile and have some interesting abilities but they always seem to be my least favorite faction. A tweak to their power levels would help there but it's still fun. My biggest complaint is that after you get the first Chosen weapon it's a massive power-level up for XCOM and frequently the other two are kind of pushovers after that. When you do, you get their weapons and hooooo boy are they good. You have to track down the Chosen and attack them at their home base to kill them. The Chosen can also stun and kidnap your troops, which leads to rescue missions. They can show up in any mission when you're in their territory and it makes Terror missions a that can with a pine cone but they're also a lot of fun. The hunt starts when you open up their region and slowly progresses and you get dings each month that goes by as they get closer to finding *you* the commander. Same base game but enough of a mix up that by the end of the game you have psychotic super-soldiers running around it's a lot of fun.īasically there are 3 "chosen" super soldiers hunting you.

It even has some base building elements which helps you unlock weapons and such, really cool stuff. For anyone who has never dipped their toe into turn based strategy games, I highly recommend this game. The soundtracks are great too, sometimes i got so stressed out listening to it that the rest of my day is also stressful because because for fucks sake that shot had an accuracy rate of 80% how the fuck do you miss that you stupid useless shit for brains always getting mind controlled son of a bitch. It's amazing how this game still holds up to this day. The graphics are simply unreal (heheh unreal engine), the enemies and your troops are rendered as if you were playing an fps shooter instead of a rts game.

I did not even know that this type of genre existed prior to getting it free om the epic games store, but man am i glad i did. Let me preface this by saying that x com 2 is the only turn based strategy game that i have ever played.
